Default Hell's Precipice Chest Running

I don't know if anyone has ever tried this, but the idea to do it came from my guild leader. He failed to do it with his warrior, so I tried it with my monk.

M/R
55hp, with 5 superior runes and -50hp focus item

Attribute Points:
Healing Prayers 10
Smiting Prayers 3
Protection Prayers 14
Divine Favor 15
Wilderness Survival 2

Skills
Mending
Essence Bond (not needed but helps with energy)
Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Spell Breaker
Dodge
Storm Chaser

Technique
Keep Mending and Essence Bond on. Use Protective Spirit to reduce damage (just like a basic Inivinca Monk). Use Spell Breaker when running by Risen Hulks or Spark of Titans. Risen Hulks has Strip Enchantment which will get you killed if Spell Breaker isn't up to stop it, and also Shadow strike will steal 43 health which will kill you if you are being attaked. Spark of Titans have Immolate, causeing you to catch fire and loose health. Use Dodge and Storm Chaser to run from the enemies. Healing Breeze is good to have if you do get hit with Immolate, and some chests are in lava so Healing Breeze is a must when getting them.

This is a difficult run to do, but it is doable.

Let me know if anyone trys this. Have
Have Fun

As soon as i figure out how to add screenshots, i will add them to this guide.
I will also try to add more detailed information about this run.

I never actually realized that there are chests in Hell's Precipice, let alone in all of the Fire Islands. Shows what I know o.o

Has anyone ever gotten anything decent from those chests? Ever?
Perhaps these will be 'teh ultim4te dr0pz0rz' that no one ever picked up on.

I heard magmaus shields drop from these chests, but so far ive just got some armors, gold and purple, and a gold weapon, wasn't very good. But I haven't done many runs yet. I hope the drops are better.

Heres the build that I use for all my mo/r running needs. Its not a 55 btw

Monk/Ranger
Level: 20

Divine Favor: 16 (12+4)
Wilderness Survival: 12

- Blessed Aura (Divine Favor)
- Watchful Spirit (Divine Favor)
- Blessed Signet (Divine Favor)
- Troll Unguent (Wilderness Survival)
- Spell Breaker [Elite] (Divine Favor)
- Serpent's Quickness (Wilderness Survival)
- Storm Chaser (Wilderness Survival)
- Dodge (Expertise)

Run prep
-------------
1) cast your 2 maintained enchants
2) use blessed sig for faster energy regen
3) cast troll ungent

30 sec bursts
---------------
1) cast sperpent quickness
2) cast SB (since you were in serpents stance it will recharge in 30s, so you can potentially do two SB's in a row)
3) Use stormchaser(this will cancell out serpents and WILL get the 33% recharge reduction)
4) Use dodge when Stormchase runs out
5) use stormchase(will be recharged by the time dodge runs out due to the 33% reduced recharge)

then rest, wait for recharge, and repeat.

Purpose of watchful spirit: Watchful spirit is used strictly to be a big heal, since it cannot be shatter you just remove it manually whenever you need a big heal.

Also an HoD sword and a -2/-2 or Candy cane or malinons shield is helpful.

I'll have to try that non 55hp build, it might be easier. Although with the damage that the titans deal, I dont know if you would survive very many hits. Ill give it a try next time im on GW.

Out of the 4 keys i have used in Hell's Precipice, they were all purples. The only unique one was a magmas arm?(A hammer). The other two were an earth staff and some mesmer offhand, and the last one was a purple rune. This was about 2 weeks ago when doing Hell's with some guildies. Haven't bought a key since. Places like those should have a higher gold to purple drop ratio. For 4 chests to all be purple is kinda ridiculous.

Well I've gotten 3 golds and 2 purples, so I guess you are just haveing bad luck for not getting any golds.

I made quite a few runs, but that is out of only 5 chests. The seems to always be atleast 1 chest in evey spwan, and it is possible to get to them all, but it is a very difficult run. You can run all the way to the portals (right befor rurik). When I have more time I will work on my run more. And post more gold drop ratios.

Ah well factions is almost here so I guess I'll post a video of the run with my mo/r. I'd say 95% + success rate on getting any of the 3 spawning chests @ Hell's. I sat on this honey hole for months and unfortunately told some people that I shouldn't have cuz a few builds are kind of similar to what i've been running. But oh well, all these items will be worthless in a few weeks anyways.

105 hps is the key cuz you will be dealing with shadow strike from ashen lords. 55 hps wont cut it they will eat you up

Items worth mentioning: Magmas shields, Sephis axes, Dead bows, swamp clubs, magmas arms

3 rares per 3 chests in the video i'm uploading. Run is a few minutes longer then your normal hell's chest run due to some bad placement of chests and having to wait out a patrol's movement to snag it. As an added bonus you get to see an nice rare at the end too (100k + drop)

* Note get familiar with patrols and chest spawn locations. With the proper build the run is a breeze. Don't expect to get something good spending a couple plat on darkstone keys.....it doesnt work that way. I've dumped prolly 200-300k into darkstone keys in hope of an uber magmas shield. I have more then made the money back on the investments in keys by running the chests.

http://hosted.filefront.com/GodlikeSatan

Video will be up in around an hour, so feel free to check up on the above link or try this build out for yourself.

Monk/ranger 105 hps

Healing 9
Smiting 3
Protection 7
Divine 15
Wilderness 11

1. Protective spirit
2. healing breeze
3. storm chaser
4. Spell breaker
5. Serpent's quickness
6. Blessed sig
7. Blessed aura
8. Mending

Use FFS with 20% enchant mod, 20/20 divine favor or healing offhand.

Of course you use Serpent's quickness before activating SB and Storm chaser, for you 2 stances dont stack people that usually always reply. You can almost back to back storm chaser and SB with like a few second window in downtime. If recharge kicks in on Sb theres no downtime. Have fun and happy running.

There's a warrior runner build for the area too.....with a low probability of success rate.

The only decent thing i have gotten out of the chests in the fire islands was a gold armor hiding a superior absorption. Back when they were worth alot more.

Ya 4 keys aren't going to net anything worth bragging about unless you get lucky. My first crack at hell's chests netted me a super vigor on the first chest back when they were valuable. I've snagged more super vigs then I care to count and quite a few super absorbs. IMO way more profitable then farming those dumb ettins for runes.

Like the saying goes, you need money to make money. The average run only takes 3-4 minutes if the chests spawn in easily accessible places. 600 gold a key isnt bad and some of the drops can easily surpass the amount that you are going to get for a good fow chest drop. A friend snagged a 15>50 8 or 9 req sephis axe and got around 800k for it.

That rare max dead bow at the end of the video: 15% in stance 5/1 and armor mod. My ranger has a new toy to play with for a few weeks until chapter 2.

Now i've just been busy solo farming the tower of courage chest in FoW for a crystalline. That takes about 30 mins and it's a win/win scenario since you get shards/rubies/sapphires/rares along the way along with the chance at rare skinned purples. Ya it'd be easier to buy one but i'm the type that likes to find items personally to equip my characters.

I dont know how you people do it.. 2 out of 4 times the titans body block me on the 1st bridge. Even if I get past them, it's extremely hard because by that time the buffs wear off, and i get killed by countless patrols after the bridge.
I cant watch their pattern in advance, because they are too far... This kinda sux.. heh

I gave the build out a long time ago, like before xmas. Solo fow n/mo 55 hp. I have made several short clips on how to handle the multiple types of shadows, skeletons, spiders, doubter's dryders, driftwoods. All you have to do is piece it together. I have been debating on releasing the full first area video for FoW since chapter 2 is coming.

If you get body blocked on the bridge doing the chest run at hell's just lure the titans back to the first set of imps, strafe around them run over bridge. If you are using the build I posted you should have np's once you get the hang of the patrol's and guard's positions.

Don't use stances while doing this because you will catch a wild blow. Blessed sig, Breeze, and PS w/e you need to. Once storm chaser recharges wait for the wild blows and use it.

all right. thank you. I'll try that.
I'm not even doing this for the items. It's so interesting for me to succeed in this, because I was trying to do this pretty much since the game came out!

Btw, where are all tjhose fow videos that I'm supposed to piece together?
And is there a map that shows where that tower is??

A swamp club is an "undead" version of a regular warhammer... Anet didnt even bother to give it a unique skin, which is quite sad really, and VERY lame.

In fact, it is very lame that the only place in the game that has any decent chance to yield you high level undead weapons is that dreaded hells precipice chest... There should be more places for that, and there should be more high level undead enemies in the game.

Hope to see more of them in the expantion, but I seriously doubt that will be the case.
